In what has to be the biggest honor of my career, I was asked twice to be a taste tester and reviewer helping to compile Texas Monthly’s top-50 best BBQ joints in Texas, in 2021 and 2024. Averaging three-to-four joints a day, I would order everything on the menu at BBQ joints ranging from shacks along the highway to massive, slick operations—all in the name of journalism.
