About Me
Joe Levin is a writer in the 2020s, which means that he’s also an editor, producer, author, and media strategist. If it involves storytelling, then he will do it. He has done work for clients such as ESPN, Texas Monthly, Nike, Wildsam, and many more.
He was a co-producer and story producer of In the Arena: Serena Williams, an 8-part documentary detailing the life of Serena Williams airing July 2024 on ESPN. The film, which was a selection of the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival, involved over 24+ hours of interviews with Williams and over 100,000 pieces of archival footage. Joe helped craft the story from the inception of the development process to the final delivery, playing a lead role across creative decisions.
He’s the co-author of the 2023 bestselling book Religion of Sports: Navigating the Trials of Life Through the Games We Love along with Gotham Chopra. The book is available now wherever books are sold.
Joe is also a senior editor at the Sunday Long Read newsletter, and frequently writes about sports, BBQ, and music in various outlets. He graduated from the University of Texas with degrees in journalism and Plan II. At UT, he was a 40 Acres Scholar.
